Botched plastic surgery: it’s like watching a train wreck and you can’t look away.
The media is full of images of cosmetic procedures gone wrong, for both celebrities and the general public alike.
There is something strangely fascinating about plastic surgery that has not gone as expected.
But we should not lose sight of the fact that these are patients that have invested their time, money, and trust in something, only to be let down.
And trust, once broken, is very hard to regain.
If you have had an unsatisfactory or botched plastic surgical experience, do not lose hope.
Take a breath, and take your time.
First, meet with your original plastic surgeon and express your concern or dissatisfaction.
Often, your original plastic surgeon will have a strong incentive to make things right through revisional surgery.
If you find that you cannot reestablish rapport with and confidence in your original surgeon, meet with another plastic surgeon.
Better yet, meet with several other plastic surgeons. Read reviews. Look at before and after photos of other patients.
Be sure you are only meeting with board-certified plastic surgeons that specialize in the procedure(s) in question. While many cosmetic surgeons perform multiple procedures, the frequency with which they perform revisional surgery may vary, and will ultimately impact your outcome.
Keep consulting with plastic surgeons until you find one that offers a plan that makes sense to you.
Also, keep in mind that your health and wellbeing are at stake. You will likely get what you pay for, so resist the temptation to shop around for the best deal.
Finally, remember that most of the time when plastic surgery does not turn out as you had hoped, revisional surgery can make things much better.
