A Striking Combo: Breast Lift with Implants

Click here to learn who is a good candidate for a breast lift with implants.

Breast Lift & Augmentation

Age, hormones, weight loss, and pregnancy can all contribute to sagging breasts. And while a push-up bra can do wonders for how people look in clothing, many women long for the perky breasts of their youth.

When you look at any magazine cover or TV show, you see beautiful, shapely breasts… It’s an aesthetic standard that is difficult to realize for the average woman… Pregnancy, time, gravity and genetics conspire against this ideal, making breasts smaller and droopier. The good news is we have tools to make many women regain the fullness and shape they thought was lost forever.

According to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS),  in 2016 close to 150,000 women decided to have a breast lift.

Causes & Considerations

Dr. Restifo addresses several key elements during breast lift consultation to determine whether a lift alone or a lift with implants will get his patients their desired results. This is largely determined by understanding whether a woman wants to address a size issue, a positioning issue, or both.

Some women are happy with the volume of their breasts, however they might appear droopy, and are not firm.  In this scenario, the location of the nipple may also be lower on the breast than desired.  A breast lift, or mastopexy, will reshape sagging breasts to create a more rounded shape and reposition the nipple to a more youthful location and projection.

For women who have lost volume in their breasts, or who have never had it to begin with, an implant might be necessary to achieve a rounder, perkier shape.

A combined breast lift with augmentation is especially common for women whose breasts have changed after multiple pregnancies.

According to the Plastic Surgery Channel,

If the nipple is higher than the fold, then an implant alone may subtly and sufficiently lift the breast. If your nipple is beneath or at the fold – OR if breast tissue itself is below the fold – a surgical lift is the only solution.

A lift is usually accompanied with a small implant to shape the upper pole. The majority of women who have had several pregnancies need both a lift and augmentation.

Is a Breast Lift with Implants Right For You?

In order to understand what each patient needs, Dr. Restifo performs an exam, takes careful measurements, and has a conversation about whether one or both procedures will achieve the desired results.

In his words,

I look at the position of the nipple, amount of skin, and the quality of the breast tissue itself…. Then the size of the implant and patient expectations are also taken into account.

In terms of the surgery, there are demands presented by combining two operations. One has to deal with multiple issues and some are fighting each other, so it is an operation that requires a great deal of experience to get the best outcome.

Dr. Restifo has over twenty years of experience performing breast surgery and can provide prospective patients with the best possible options to restore their breasts to a youthful shape. See his before and after photos here.
